Getting and Keeping Customers....

We just celebrated Thanksgiving and if you are a business owner you must have been thankful for your customers. Those people who keep you in business and sometimes get you new business by passing your name on to others.

I have worked as a real estate assistant on and off for 24 years. In those years many things have changed in the real estate realm but one thing remains the same. Buyers and sellers! People talk, sometimes good and sometimes bad. As a new assistant right after graduating from college I began working for an agent named Kay Newton in Colorado Springs. I am still in touch with her after all these years. She became much more than just my first employer, a second mom and a mentor. Back then, computers were just beginning to be used. She taught me many things: one was a good assistant always had a pen/pencil on them to take notes whenever the agent needed them. She always wrote notes, anniversary cards and birthday cards to past and prospective customers. Another lesson Kay taught me was that sometimes marketing does not pay off right away, you may get a response long after you sent out a card. You must be patient and persistent. Old school networking by todays standards but since so many agents send out emails and are tech savvy not much arrives via snail mail. All of us are so busy today, sometimes we forget to thank those that help us out. Referrals are not only important in the real estate industry, any service oriented industry should care about referrals and customer service.

Before the year ends, remember to thank those that sent you business or helped you out beyond the norm. A little time, effort and money goes a long way with past and future clients/customers.

Check out my referral cards or we can make you some specific cards to say thank you. Let me help you with your marketing needs. The card pictured above would be great to send with a gift card for Peet's Coffee, Starbucks or your local coffee place. Simple, but thoughtful. Who wouldn't love getting a handwritten card of thanks accompanied by a coffee gift card???????

Have a wonderful weekend! For those of you who are reading my blog...... THANK YOU!
