I'm in the same boat.....

Just like everyone else, I am in the throws of trying to get ready for the holidays.

I was just out to dinner with a dear friend and was explaining to her how a baker can't take a store bought pie to a dinner party. He/she has to make a pie. Everyone expects a super fresh pie from that person. Plus it would be bad for business to bring someone else's pie to a dinner party.

So, I find myself this Christmas making handmade cards and writing the sentiment / message to each recipient. Thank goodness for social media as most of my friends are connected to me via some source so that I don't have to repeat a whole years worth of info. But there are a few people who don't have computers or social media, so I do have to catch them up. Have you noticed that when Christmas rolls around you find you don't have peoples physical address. We have gotten so bad because we are all connected via computer that when we move, no longer do we send out new address cards. (I feel another sad story upon our society).

So if you are a personal friend and you receive a card from me this Christmas please know that I put a lot of time and effort into each one and that you mean a lot to me. In the same mailing I am giving an example of my work so if you are ever in need of a super special gift for someone, consider my cards, invitations, tags, gift card holders.

I just wanted to prove that I am not only advocating for bringing back the lost art form of writing, but doing so myself this Christmas. Consider giving young children (kids and adults too) personalized cards for Christmas. This mom has a rule that thank you's need to be sent out before spending money given to them. It is a common courtesy and for those who don't live near and dear, it let's them know, yes the mail did get the card delivered. If you already have the cards on hand to write thank you's no excuses will be available. How times have you said we are writing thank yous and then have to go buy some and you keep forgetting and then it gets really late and embarrassing to send something then? Foil all the excuses and just write them! My kids do them now with no argument. As they get older the writing gets better but if you start young, they will learn and progress as they grow.

Happy writing......

Trish
